Why this exists

Unlike the original Monaco guide — built the night before an actual visit and beta tested on the circuit itself — this Singapore guide was researched remotely, not walked in person.

The racing line comes from public GPS data and the historical facts are sourced from race reports and Wikipedia, but corner positions are still being validated against the real track — the Marina Bay circuit changed significantly in 2023, and getting the numbering right took real care.

Treat it as a work in progress rather than ground truth, and if you walk it yourself, corrections and reports are very welcome.

Fan-made walking guide — S/F line + all 19 corners of the Marina Bay Street Circuit

Tap GPS to enable live tracking. The app measures your distance to the next corner every few seconds using your device's built-in location — nothing is sent externally.

When you're within 40 metres of a corner, its marker turns orange. When you're within 25 metres of the next corner, the panel auto-advances.

Use the Auto button to turn auto-advance on or off — useful if you want to explore freely without the panel switching.

The screen stays on automatically while GPS is active.

Battery/CPU impact is negligible — same as having Maps open.

After first load, the app and map tiles work fully offline. This makes it useful as a general Singapore GPS map even when roaming doesn't work.

GPS itself doesn't require internet — your device's location hardware works independently of mobile data.

Marina Bay's layout changed substantially in 2023 — a technical waterfront section was demolished and replaced with a straight, cutting the corner count from 23 to 19. Corner positions in this app are still being validated against the current track — treat exact placements as provisional for now.

iOS: Open in Safari → Share → "Add to Home Screen". Opens as a standalone app with no browser chrome.

Android: Open in Chrome or Brave → install prompt or browser menu → Add to Home Screen.

Once installed, the app works fully offline and the screen stays on while GPS is active.

A walking guide to all 19 corners of the Marina Bay Street Circuit, home of Formula 1's first night race, with GPS tracking, historical facts, and offline maps. Free, no tracking, works as a PWA.

Walking the Marina Bay Street Circuit

Marina Bay Street Circuit is 4.927 km long with 19 turns. It hosted F1's first-ever night race in 2008, run entirely after dark under floodlights — Las Vegas is now the only other circuit raced this way. Singapore was the first street circuit in Asia designed for Formula One, and one of the toughest races on the calendar thanks to heat, humidity, and minimal run-off. The layout changed substantially in 2023: a technical waterfront section (the old Turns 16 to 19) was demolished for a redevelopment project and replaced with a straight, cutting the corner count from 23 to 19 and dropping lap times by about 10 seconds overnight.

Start / Finish Line

The pit straight sits beside the Singapore Flyer observation wheel. In the circuit's very first race in 2008, this is also where F1's most notorious scandal unfolded: Renault ordered driver Nelson Piquet Jr. to crash deliberately at the old Turn 17, triggering a safety car that handed the race win to team-mate Fernando Alonso. "Crashgate," as it became known, happened in the waterfront section demolished during the 2023 rebuild — the exact spot no longer exists on today's track.

Turn 1

A tight left-hander right after the start/finish straight, informally known as "Sheares" after Benjamin Henry Sheares, Singapore's second president — one of the few corners here with a real name rather than just a number.

Turn 2

A longer left curve, feeding into the Turn 3 hairpin.

Turn 3

A left-handed hairpin, heavy on the brakes.

Turn 4

A right-hand kink as the track joins Republic Boulevard.

Turn 5

A long left-hander leading onto one of the circuit's DRS straights.

Turn 6

A right-hand kink before the run toward the bridge section.

Turn 7

A left-hander near the old War Memorial Park. Most overtaking moves into this corner come with DRS help on the long run beforehand — one of the circuit's more reliable passing spots despite its reputation as a street track where overtaking is hard.

Turn 8

A right-hander onto Stamford Road.

Turn 9

A sweeping left, taken flat out in qualifying trim.

Turn 10

Once the "Singapore Sling," a brutal triple-apex chicane with kerbs so aggressive they wrecked cars in the circuit's very first race in 2008. It was simplified to a single left-hander in 2013. In 2023, on the final lap while defending third place from Lando Norris, George Russell clipped the wall here with his right-rear tyre and speared into the barrier, ending his race on the spot.

Turn 11

A fast right, funnelling the car toward Anderson Bridge.

Turn 12

The left onto Anderson Bridge itself, taken at around 190 km/h. The bridge opened in 1910 to relieve traffic on the older Cavenagh Bridge next door.

Turn 13

A tight hairpin over the far side of Anderson Bridge — narrow, bumpy, and a serious traction test. During a 2015 safety car period, a spectator squeezed through a gap in the fencing near here and ran onto the circuit before being arrested.

Turn 14

A right-hander onto Esplanade Drive.

Turn 15

A left across the Esplanade Bridge, leading onto the new back straight.

Turn 16

A sharp right — the start of the section rebuilt for 2023, replacing the old waterfront corners that once ran past the water and under a grandstand.

Turn 17

A left into the final sequence, onto Raffles Avenue.

Turn 18

A sharp left, one of the trickiest late-lap braking zones.

Turn 19

The final corner, a right-hander back onto the start/finish straight.

Singapore's Grand Prix runs at night, but the circuit's public streets are walkable in daylight too, outside race week.
Start at the S/F line beside the Singapore Flyer and walk in racing direction (counterclockwise) toward Turn 1 for the most logical route.
